Painting has to be the thing I dread the most. (Sandblasting would be the only other contender.) It is a skill that requires a great deal of patience and sometimes I am just not patient at all. My lack of patience causes me to put too much paint on, causing it to run. At that point I think, "I can fix those runs if I spray a little more paint to smooth it out." You can imagine the runs just get progressively worse. Phooey!

Despite my sad skills, I think I did a good job this go. I really didn't run it hardly at all.

Even the pan seams look respectable now.

The primer dries pretty fast. By the time I get the whole chassis sprayed with a light coat, the first part I painted is pretty much dry. I can then throw another coat on there to get better coverage without the runs.

Two coats of primer made it look pretty snazzy. I think I am learning this paint thing.

Boy am I glad I didn't paint this thing gloss black. It looks horrible when wet and shiny. Every imperfection really stands out in the light. I chose flat black as the final color to hide the dings and dents. It should also allow for easy touch ups with a spray bomb down the road.

I sprayed a coat over the primer. You can still see some of the red in the thin spots, but I will hit those on the next go around.

I will be shooting a couple more coats of flat black on the chassis in the next few days.
